Flyford Flavell Primary School

Reception

Welcome to Reception

Step into our class and you will see 14 children having fun and immersed in their learning! Our class teacher is Mrs Bown and our Learning Support Assistant is Mrs Ricketts. We are very excited to have the children begin their learning journey with us and are looking forward to watching the children grow, develop their confidence and tackle new challenges with enthusiasm.

Summer 1

This half-term our topic is Dinosaurs. With help from our new friend Terrance the T. rex, we will be exploring the Jurassic Era and comparing it to our lives today. The children will explore the work of Mary Anning and the discovery of fossils, we will also be creating our own! To extend our historical learning with this topic, we will be exploring different images of familiar experiences now and in the past. As part of our Design and Technology learning, the children will investigate materials that are waterproof and float to help them design and create a boat.

Spring 2

This term our topic is Around the World. We will be using the story ‘My Cat Likes to Hide in Boxes’ to explore different countries and cultures around the world. As part of this topic, we will also be reflecting on our local area and comparing this to other places in England. As the season begins to change and we enter spring, the children will explore how this change is represented in our environment and how plants grow at this time of year. Towards the end of the term, we will be taking a train journey to Worcester for an exciting trip!
